Writeup from MB 110:
Northwest Africa 13866 (NWA 13866) Morocco Purchased: 2020 Feb Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) History: Found by Ahmed Bouchama near Dakhla, Morocco, in January 2020 and purchased by John Higgins in February 2020. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Largely recrystallized with rare chondrule remnants. Accessory phases are sodic plagioclase, troilite, low-Ti chromite, kamacite, taenite and merrillite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa25.0±0.3, range Fa24.6-25.4, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.7±0.2Wo1.7±0.1, range Fs20.5-20.9Wo1.6-1.8, N = 4), augite (Fs8.4±0.4Wo44.2±0.2, range Fs8.1-8.8Wo43.9-44.3, N = 3). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6). Specimens: 30 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J. Higgins. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
