Writeup from MB 111:

Northwest Africa 13891 (NWA 13891)

Morocco

Purchased: 2019

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from a Moroccan dealer at the China Mineral & Gem Show in Beijing City in Nov. 2019

Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) A stone with a triangular shape; many chondrules can be seen on the surface; without fusion crust

Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) The meteorite is composed of about 90% sharply outlined, round to heavily deformed chondrules (0.3-3 mm, av. 0.9 mm) of various types with abundant metallic rims and metallic inclusions and about 10% interchondrule black matrix.

Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa26.8 (15.2-32.0; n=9); pyroxene Fs13.4 (11.9-17.8) Wo1.0 (0.6-1.6; n=6), diopside En61Fs5Wo34. Kamacite Ni=5.2±0.5, Co=1.4±0.4 (n=4); taenite Ni=41.1±2.7, Co=0.3±0.04 (n=4) wt%; tetrataenite and troilite. O-isotopes (A. Pack, T. Di Rocco, and A. Gehler, UGött): δ17O(‰) = 4.579, δ18O(‰) = 6.736, D’17O(0.528) (ppm) = 1.024. Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.50

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3 cluster chondrite, S2, W1)

Specimens: 20.3 g on deposit at IfP, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 62 g with Bart. Polished thin sections with Bart + IfP
