Northwest Africa 14247 (NWA 14247)

Morocco

Find: 2016

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H6)

History: T. Mikouchi purchased the meteorite from a US dealer

Physical characteristics: A single rounded stone of 32.87 g with brownish surface, ~50% covered with black fusion crust.

Petrography: (T. Mikouchi: UTok) Equilibrated texture with rare remnant chondrules. Plagioclase size reaches 100 μm.

Geochemistry: Olivine is Fa17.8-18.9 (N=110). Low-Ca pyroxene is Fs15.3-17.6Wo0.9-1.8 (N=131). Augite is Fs5.5-6.8Wo45.0-46.2 (N=10). Plagioclase is An11.3-13.2Or5.0-7.2 (N=8).
