Northwest Africa 14396 (NWA 14396) Morocco Purchased: Aug 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5) History: Purchased by Sean Tutorow from a dealer in August 2019 in Morocco. Physical characteristics: The type specimen has a rugged surface and lacks fusion crust. The interior has a light brown color. Rare, but discernable and up to 1 mm-sized chondrules are observed, and metal is preserved. Petrography: (A. Bouvier, UBayr) In section, chondrules and matrix show evidence of recrystalisation, and moderate oxidation of metal is observed. Geochemistry: Olivine Fs23.1±0.3 (n=3), Low-Ca pyroxene Fs19.8±0.3Wo1.7±0.2 (n=6), Plagioclase An10.5±0.2An84.3±0.8Or5.2±0.8 (n=4) Classification: L5 Specimens: 30.5 g including a polished mount at UBayr. S. Tutorow holds the main mass. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
