FALL OF DOCCO STONY METEORITE, NIGERIA

Name: DOCCO.

The place of fall or discovery: 30 km from the village of Hanam Tombo, Nigeria.

Date of fall or discovery: FALL, February 19, 1962, approximately 12 h. 30 in.

Class and type: STONY, chondrite.

Number of individual specimens: 2.

Total weight: 1.25 kg (weight of sample brought to Paris Museum of Natural History); the second sample was kept by the local authorities.

Circumstances of the fall or discovery: ---

A letter from Dr. E. Jérémine (Paris, France) 11.20, 1963 reports that the right name of stony meteorite fell in Nigeria of February 19, 1962 Dosso and not Docco, as previously reported in the Meteoritical Bulletin, No. 25, December, 1962.
