Find: 2020 Jan

Classification: HED achondrite (Howardite)

History: Found in Algeria in January 2020 and purchased from the finder in Tindouf, Algeria in March 2020. David Lehman is the American agent for the owners.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Breccia composed of fairly closely-packed mineral clasts of diogenitic orthopyroxene, calcic plagioclase, exsolved pigeonite, Ti-free chromite, ilmenite and minor altered kamacite in a sparse matrix. The relative proportions of diogenite and eucrite materials are estimated to be ~80% diogenite and ~20% eucrite.

Geochemistry: Diogenitic orthopyroxene (Fs28.2-35.7Wo2.5-3.0, FeO/MnO = 29-34, N = 3), low-Ca pyroxene host (Fs59.3-60.6Wo3.5-3.8, FeO/MnO = 30, N = 2), augite exsolution lamellae (Fs29.4-30.0Wo40.9-41.1, FeO/MnO = 30-33, N = 2), plagioclase (An89.8-93.7Or0.4-0.2, N = 3).

Classification: Howardite.

Specimens: 21.1 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. D. Lehman.
