Northwest Africa 12527 (NWA 12527) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2017 Classification: Primitive achondrite (Acapulcoite) History: (Ziyao Wang) Purchased by Ziyao Wang from Hamza Lharbi in Guelmim in 2017. Physical characteristics: (Ziyao Wang) one dark-brown stone of 18.2 g with smooth appearance, without fusion crust. Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) Strongly recrystallized texture with olivine, pyroxene, plagioclase, and interstitial metal and sulfide. Geochemistry: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart, P. Appel and B. Mader, Kiel) Olivine Fa7.7±0.2, FeO/MnO=16 (n=6); pyroxene Fs8.3±0.2Wo1.7±0.3, FeO/MnO=12 (n=9); Ca-pyroxene En51Fs4Wo45 (n=2); feldspar An15Or4 (n=2); chromite CRAL53, FFM68 (n=1). Kamacite Ni=7.7, Co=0.7 (n=3) (all wt-%); plessite, troilite. Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.75 Classification: Primitive achondrite (acapulcoite) Specimens: 3.7 g on deposit at Kiel, Ziyao Wang holds the main mass, and 2.7 g with Bart. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
