Northwest Africa 13913 (NWA 13913) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Nov Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6) History: Purchased by Shun-Chung Yang and Juan Chen in November 2020 from a dealer in Tindouf, Algeria. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Largely recrystallized with some vague chondrule-like features. Composed predominantly of olivine and augite with subordinate Cr-magnetite, intermediate plagioclase., low-Ca pyroxene, troilite, pentlandite and Cr-Zn-bearing hercynitic spinel. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa32.6±0.4, range Fa31.9-32.9, N = 5), pigeonite (Fs25.4Wo7.4), augite (Fs9.0±0.7Wo46.5±0.5, range Fs8.5-9.5Wo46.1-46.8, N = 2), plagioclase (An64.7Or0.9), magnetite (Cr2O3 = 4.6-4.7 wt.%, N = 3). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6). Specimens: 8.9 g in the form of a polished endcut at UWB; remainder with Mr. Shun-Chung Yang and Mr. Juan Chen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
