Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2)

History: The meteorite was found in the desert of central Algeria and subsequently purchased by the mass holder.

Physical characteristics: Many small black fragments some of which partly covered with fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite is a brecciated carbonaceous chondrite composed of small (apparent mean diameter about 250 μm) chondrules, chondrule pseudomorphs, mineral fragments, and some CAIs set into abundant fine-grained Fe-rich matrix. Some chondrules and CAIs are surrounded by fine-grained dust rims. The matrix contains Fe-sulfides, pyrrhotite, Ti-poor chromite, and some Ca-carbonates. Low analytical totals of matrix analyses suggest the presence of hydrous phyllosilicates.

Geochemistry: Matrix analyses yield FeO=34.2±5.3 wt% and an average total of 79.2±2.2 wt% (5 µm defocused beam, N=9), the latter indicating the presence of hydrous minerals.
