Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Small, well-formed chondrules (apparent diameter 230±150 µm, N = 26), zoned mineral fragments and sparse, very fine grained diopside-forsterite-bearing CAI are set in a fine grained matrix (~30 vol.%, red-brown in thin section) containing magnetite, troilite and altered kamacite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa29.7±18.6, range Fa0.2-56.4, N = 9; Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.04-0.52 wt.%, mean 0.28±0.15 wt.%, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs4.8±4.2Wo1.4±1.4, range Fs1.4-12.5Wo0.6-4.6, N = 8), subcalcic augite (Fs10.5Wo23.1), Al-Ti-diopside (Fs0.6Wo51.6, Al2O3 6.1 wt.%, TiO2 0.5 wt.%), augite (Fs11.2±13.2Wo43.0±2.4, range Fs0.6-26.0Wo40.4-45.1, N = 3). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3). Specimens: 9.7 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
