Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Both lithic Type 3 chondrite clasts and discrete glass-bearing, unequilibrated chondrules occur in a fine-grained matrix (~25 vol.%, orange in thin section). Chondrules have apparent diameters of 510±270 µm (N = 26). Accessory sodic plagioclase and chromite are present but metal is absent; Fe oxides may represent altered troilite or other sulfides. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa34.8±7.7, range Fa21.5-39.8, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs23.8±9.3Wo2.2±0.4, range Fs13.3-30.5Wo1.7-2.4, N = 3), augite (Fs11.4±0.3Wo45.2±0.5, range Fs11.1-11.7Wo44.7-45.7, N = 4), plagioclase (Ab83.9-86.8An13.4-10.2Or2.7-3.0, N = 2). Classification: R3 chondrite breccia. Specimens: 20.0 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
