Northwest Africa 13720 (NWA 13720) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: October 2020 Classification: Pallasite (Main group) Physical characteristics: A single dark stone. Cut face reveals equivalent amouts of metal and subrounded olivine crystals. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Assemblage of equivalent amount of metal (cm size) and subrounded olivine (600 µm). Other minerals: chromite (to 200 µm), troilite as veins in olivine and along metal grain rims. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa13.2±0.1, FeO/MnO = 54.1±3.5 (n=4). Chromite Cr# = 0.91 (n=2). Classification: Achondrite (pallasite, main group) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
