Northwest Africa 14190 (NWA 14190)

Niger

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in January 2021 from a dealer in Niger.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed, relatively small chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing troilite, stained kamacite, augite, chromite, chlorapatite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.7±0.6, range Fa17.9-19.4, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.2±0.4Wo1.4±0.1, range Fs15.8-17.0Wo1.3-1.4, N = 7), augite (Fs5.8Wo44.7).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 34.3 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
