Approval of this meteorite has been withdrawn pending an investigation into its actual provenance. Blanco San Juan County, New Mexico, USA Found 1996 June Iron (IAB) Three individual masses weighing 3173 g, 2764 g, and 3431 g were found by Michael Atchison on open, sandy terrain, on a ranch. Classification and analysis (R. Jones, UNM; J. Wasson, UCLA): Metal composition determined by INAA is: Ni = 67.3 mg/g, Co = 4.55 mg/g, Ga = 91.2 mm/g, As = 10.9 mg/g, Ir = 3.79 mg/g, indicating designation as a IAB iron. Blanco is a coarse octahedrite. Type specimen: 2764 g, UNM. Main mass: M. Atchison. | ||||
