Northwest Africa 10010 (NWA 10010) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 11/2014 Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL6) History: Purchased by Hanno Strufe from a local meteorite dealer in Rissani, Morocco. Petrography: The meteorite displays a recrystallized texture of dominantly large, about 100-μm sized enstatite grains and abundant Fe,Ni metal. Less abundant phases are albitic feldspar, troilite, schreibersite and daubreelite. No relict chondrules were found; metal is heavily altered. Geochemistry: Albitic feldspar: An16.2Or4.3Ab79.5; metal contains about 1 wt% Si. Classification: Petrography and 1 wt% Si in metal suggests enstatite chondrite (EL6) classification | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
