Northwest Africa 13927 (NWA 13927) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Jan Classification: Enstatite achondrite (Aubrite) History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in January 2020 from a dealer in Guelmim, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Relatively equigranular aggregate (mean grainsize ~0.4 mm) of polysynthetically-twinned orthopyroxene with subordinate sodic plagioclase and accessory silica polymorph, altered kamacite, schreibersite and troilite. Secondary iron hydroxides occur along grain boundaries. Geochemistry: Enstatite (Fs0.1-0.6Wo0.6-0.8, N = 6), plagioclase (Ab69.0-84.1An28.9-5.6Or2.2-9.5, N = 40, kamacite (Ni = 6.5 wt.%, Si = 1.1 wt.%). Classification: Aubrite. Specimens: 21.9 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with WangZ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
