Northwest Africa 14248 (NWA 14248) Morocco Purchased: 2015 Classification: Enstatite chondrite (EL melt rock) History: Mike Martinez purchased the meteorites from Moroccan dealer. Hirdy Miyamoto purchased the samples from Mike Martinez in 2015. Petrography: (T. Niihara and T. Mikouchi: UTok) A completely recrystallized enstatite chondrite with polygonal to irregular grain outlines. Several vesicles and fine metal droplets are existing. Most of metal grains have been oxidized. This meteorite probably paired with Al Haggounia 001. Geochemistry: Mineral composition: Enstatite (En98.6-97.4Wo1.7-1.2, N=30) and plagioclase (Ab80.8-71.9An17.1-14.8Or11.2-3.2, N=14). Kamacite contains ~1.2 wt% of Si. Classification: EL-melt rock Specimens: A 20 g type specimen is on deposit at UTok. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
