Northwest Africa 6268 (NWA 6268) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 12 Feb 2010 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, polymict) Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS): Polymict breccia composed mostly of cumulate eucrite clasts and debris, with sparse olivine grains and basaltic eucrite clasts. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene (Fs64.0-65.0Wo2.7; FeO/MnO = 30.7-33.8), clinopyroxene (Fs27.3-31.6Wo42.8-41.6; FeO/MnO = 32.4-35.1), olivine (Fa26.4-33.2; FeO/MnO = 45.8-55.3), calcic plagioclase, silica, ilmenite and troilite. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
