Northwest Africa 13180 (NWA 13180) Algeria Purchased: 2019 Jun Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4) History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in June 2019 from an Algerian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Well-formed chondrules are set in a recrystallized matrix containing altered kamacite, taenite, chromite and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.7±0.1, range Fa24.6-24.9, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs20.8±0.2Wo1.6±0.2, range Fs20.6-21.0Wo1.4-1.9, N = 5), augite (Fs8.2±1.2Wo44.7±1.0, range Fs7.1-9.5Wo45.8-44.1, N = 3). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4). Specimens: 47.8 g including two polished thin sections at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
