Northwest Africa 13104 (NWA 13104) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Apr Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, monomict) History: Purchased in Rissani, Morocco by Adam Aaronson in April 2019. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Monomict breccia composed of closely-packed very fine grained granulitic eucrite clasts in a sparse matrix. Minerals are exsolved pigeonite, calcic plagioclase, silica polymorph, Ti-Al-bearing chromite, troilite, ilmenite and rare zircon. Geochemistry: Orthopyroxene host (Fs60.7-62.0Wo3.4-1.9, FeO/MnO = 31-32, N = 5), clinopyroxene exsolution lamellae (Fs26.4-27.4Wo44.2-43.3, FeO/MnO = 31-34, N = 5), plagioclase (An88.0-90.0Or0.4, N = 4). Classification: Eucrite (monomict breccia, fine grained, recrystallized). Specimens: 20.2 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Aaronson. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
