Location: Allan Hills

Meteorite Type: H6 Chondrite

Physical Description: Carol Schwarz

Dull black fusion crust covers most of this sample. The other surfaces are dark brown with several light inclusions visible. The interior exposed in chipping is a red brown color. Dimensions: 5 x 5 x 3.5 cm

Petrographic Description: Brian Mason

The section shows a granular aggregate of olivine and pyroxene, with minor amounts of nickel-iron, troilite, and plagioclase, with a few poorly defined chondrules. Weathering is extensive, with veins and small areas of brown limonite throughout. Remnants of fusion crust, up to 0.5 mm thick, rim the section. Microprobe analyses gave the following results: olivine, Fa19; orthopyroxene, Fs17; plagioclase, An12. The meteorite is an H6 chondrite.
