Physical Description: Carol Schwarz

One mm thick patchy fusion crust is scattered on this smooth rounded specimen. The sample is red/brown and extensively weathered. Dimensions: 5.5 x 4.5 x 4 cm

 

Petrographic Description: Brian Mason

Chondrules are fairly abundant, but some are poorly defined and tend to merge with the granular groundmass, which consists largely of olivine and pyroxene, with minor amounts of nickel-iron and troilite. The section is pervaded with veinlets of brown limonite. Microprobe analyses gave the following results: olivine, Fa19; orthopyroxene, Fs17; some fine-grained plagioclase, An13, was identified. The meteorite is classified as an H5 chondrite.
