Northwest Africa 10872 (NWA 10872) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: June 2016 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) History: The meteorite was purchased in 2016 from a meteorite dealer at the mineral fair in St.Marie aux mines, France. Physical characteristics: The individual lacks any fusion crust and displays a light brownish interior. Petrography: The meteorite exhibits a chondritic texture of abundant small chondrules, CAIs, and mineral fragments in a fine-grained matrix. Chondrules are dominantly porphyritic type I and typically 0.1-0.2 mm in diameter. Contains sulfides and FeNi metal in matrix and chondrules. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
