Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3)

History: One piece of the meteorite was found by Mr. T. Kryachko

Physical characteristics: Sample with brown fusion crust

Petrography: M. A. Ivanova (Vernad) Meteorite consists of chondrules, their fragments, CAIs set in a fine grained matrix. Chondrules (up to 0.3 mm) are mostly porphyritic and barred. Chondrule mesostasis is glassy. CAIs contain spinel, hibonite, melilite and perovskite. Small grains of Fe,Ni-metal and sulfide grains occur in the matrix. Shock stage is S1 based on sharp exinction of olivine.

Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: M. A. Ivanova (Vernad) Olivine: Fa1.10-70.6 (N=45), orthopyroxene: Fs1.39-54.1Wo0.37-4.64 (N=42), pigeonite: Fs15.28±12.83Wo9.75±4.41 (N=12); augite Fs5.39±2.52Wo36.04±5.22 (N=13); diopside in CAIs Fs1.73Wo51.48.

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3).

Specimens: one sample of the meteorite (5.1 g), and 1 polished thin section are deposited in Vernad. Mt. T. Kryachko (bredfild@mail.ru) hold the main mass of the meteorite.
