Northwest Africa 14390 (NWA 14390) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: August, 2021 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a dealer in Mauritania. Physical characteristics: Six black rocks some of which almost completely covered with fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows an almost black interior and is predominantly composed of abundant small chondrules, CAIs, and mineral fragments set into a fine-grained matrix. Chondrules have a mean diameter of about 0.2 mm. Some components are surrounded by fine-grained dust rims. Opaque phases are metal and troilite. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
