Northwest Africa 12881 (NWA 12881) Morocco Purchased: 2017 Nov Classification: Iron meteorite (IIAB) History: The meteorite was purchased in Morocco from a dealer. Petrography: (Y. Shen, UWO) Fresh interior, hexahedrite texture with kamacite, plessite, and phosphides found by BSE imaging in the polished mount. Geochemistry: (Y. Shen, UWO) Elemental composition in %: Co=0.51 and Ni= 7.1; and in ppm: Cr=56, Ga=60, As=5.6, Ru=19, Pt 26, Ir=3.5 and Au=1.2. EMPA: taenite Ni 23-36 wt% and kamacite Ni 2-7 wt% in plessite. Classification: Iron, IIAB Specimens: 22.0g at UWO including a polished mount. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
