Northwest Africa 14283 (NWA 14283) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: June 2020 Classification: Iron meteorite (IIAB) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Iron meteorite with a coarset octahedrite structure composed of martensite grains about 4 mm in size. Schreibersite is present as 30 µm euhedral grains, and larger elongated grains (1 mm by 40 µm) separating martensite domains. Geochemistry: (H. Pourkhorsandi and V. Debaille, ULB): Composition of the metal (ICP-MS) is Co=0.40±0.01, Ni=5.70±0.08 (both in wt% ±1 sigma), Cr=64.1±0.6, Cu=95.0±0.8, Ga=34.9±2.1, Ge=64.6±0.6, As=3.05±0.18, Mo=3.81±0.05, Pd=1.27±0.01, W=1.24±0.10, Ir=1.33±0.12, Au=0.34±0.03 (all in ppm ±1 sigma). Classification: Iron (IIAB) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
