Ramlat Fasad 587 18°54.589’N, 53°25.306’E Zufar, Oman Find: 08 Feb 2018 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Black angular to rounded oxide fragments. Strongly magnetic. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of iron oxides and -hydroxides. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (XRF) Fe = 59.0±0.6 Ni = 3.25±1.80, Co = 0.39±0.22 (all wt%, N = 3). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 588/589 found at a distance of 40 to 55 m Specimens: 1.93 g at NMBE. Main mass: MHTO. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
