Ramlat Fasad 588 18°54.593’N, 53°25.328’E Zufar, Oman Find: 08 Feb 2018 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Black angular to rounded oxide fragment. Strongly magnetic. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of iron oxides and hydroxides. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (XRF) Fe = 58.4±2.4, Ni = 4.08±0.91, Co = 0.39±0.03 (all wt%, N = 3). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 587/589 found at a distance of 25 to 40 m Specimens: 0.40 g at NMBE. Main mass: MHTO. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
