Macroscopic Description: Carol Schwarz
The exterior of this carbonaceous chondrite has 95% brown/black polished fusion crust. The interior has a black matrix with mm sized white and rusty inclusions. The meteorite is very fractured.

Thin Section (,2) Description: Tim McCoy
EET96286 - Cross-Polarized Light The section exhibits large chondrules (up to 3.5 mm), CAIs and metal in a dark matrix. Some clasts appear to have been aqueously altered. Olivines range from Fa1-2 and pyroxenes from Fs1-4. The meteorite is an unequilibrated carbonaceous chondrite, probably a CV3.

Writeup from AMN 33(1):
EET 96286 original classification in AMN 21, no. 2 as a CV3 chondrite, but several studies have brought information to light that is inconsistent with that classification. Raman data, as well as isotopic data for C, H, and O indicate this meteorite is not a CV3, but a CR2 chondrite [1, 2].
