Gilzem

Kreis Bitburg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany

Found 1987

Stone. Ordinary chondrite (H5)

One stone of 436 g was found while ploughing a field by Mr. Peters. Information, classification and analysis, olivine Fa18.5, pyroxene Fs16.6, J. Otto, Mineralogisch-Petrographisches Institut, Universitat Freiburg, Albertstrasse 23b, D-7800 Freiburg, Germany. Gilzem is different from the H5-chondrite Simmer (fall 1920, about 45 km from Gilzem), because it differs in the content and isotopic composition of the rare gases, H. Weber and L. Schultz, MPI Chemie, Mainz, Germany, pers. comm. 1991.
