Northwest Africa 5747 (NWA 5747) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2008 Dec 12 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: Purchased from a moroccan dealer at the mineral fair (CCH) in Hamburg, Germany. Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Abundant chondrules with apparent sizes up to 4 mm set into a dark gray, fine-grained matrix. Many chondrules show yellow to orange colors due to terrestrial staining. Several whitish CAIs with irregular and spherical shapes occur, with apparent sizes up to 2.5 mm. Small, partly oxidized Fe,Ni grains are visible. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
