Northwest Africa 10623 (NWA 10623) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2015 Dec Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: Purchased by Darryl Pitt in December 2015 from a dealer in Mauritania. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Relatively large, granular chondrules (apparent diameter 0.2-3.0 mm, mean 1.3 mm) and irregularly shaped, very fine grained CAI (up to 2.8 mm long) are set in a very fine-grained orange matrix. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa0.3-48.8, N = 3), orthopyroxene (Fs1.3-1.4Wo2.7-3.4, N = 3), clinopyroxene (Fs0.6-2.6Wo37.7-39.2, N = 2). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3). Specimens: 22.8 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with DPitt. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
