Northwest Africa 12644 (NWA 12644) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Feb Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: Purchased in February 2019 by Darryl Pitt from a Mauritanian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving and S. Kuehner, UWS) Well-formed chondrules (granular, BO and PO; apparent diameter 980±440 µm, N = 21) and large amoeboid, very fine grained CAI are set in a finer matrix (sepia-brown in thin section). Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa19.0±16.0 (range Fa1.9-44.4), N = 6), subcalcic augite (Fs0.9Wo33.4), augite (Fs1.9Wo40.5). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3). Specimens: 22.4 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with DPitt. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
