Northwest Africa 12762 (NWA 12762) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2012 Oct Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) History: Purchased by Beat Booz in October 2012 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Well-formed PO and granular chondrules (apparent diameter 800 ± 240 µm, N = 22) together with very fine grained, irregularly-shaped CAI are set in a fine grained matrix (~30 vol.%, sepia-brown in thin section). Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa3.6±3.8 (range Fa0.3-8.0), N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs1.1±0.4Wo2.0±2.1 (range Fs0.9-1.6Wo0.7-4.5), N = 3), diopside (Fs1.2±0.1Wo38.1±0.2 (range Fs1.-1.3Wo38.4-37.7), N = 2). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3). Specimens: 21.0 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. B. Booz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
