Northwest Africa 14325 (NWA 14325) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: May, 2021 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVox3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a group of meteorites hunters in Nouadhibou, Mauritania in May, 2021. Physical characteristics: Almost black rock without fusion crust. Some large CAIs are exposed at the surface. The interior is black. Petrography: The meteorite is composed of large chondrules (up to 900 µm sized), whitish CAIs (up to 1 cm sized), and olivine amoeboids all set into a fine-grained black matrix. Opaque phases are Ni-rich sulfides, troilite, and rare metal. Geochemistry: Ni in sulfides 17.0±0.17 wt%, N=8 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CVox3). Oxidized subgroup based on high concentrations of Ni in sulfide Gattacceca et al., 2020. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
