Northwest Africa 14148 (NWA 14148) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2020 Dec Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK4) History: Purchased by Luc Labenne in December 2020 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Separated well-formed, equilibrated magnetite-bearing chondrules are set in a moderately coarse grained matrix containing Cr-magnetite (with ilmenite exsolution lamellae), troilite and relatively calcic plagioclase. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa33.0±0.3, range Fa32.7-33.4, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs28.2±0.3Wo0.7±0.2, range Fs27.8-28.4Wo0.6-1.0, N = 3), pigeonite (Fs26.8Wo7.1), subcalcic augite (Fs19.3Wo23.5), augite (Fs15.2Wo36.4), plagioclase (An59.6-71.0Or0.8-0.3, N = 2), magnetite (Cr2O3 4.2-4.3 wt.%, N = 3). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK4). Specimens: 20 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Labenne. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
