Chwichiya 003 27°05’26"N, 11°10’12"W Saguia el Hamra, Western Sahara Find: 2018 Dec Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2) Physical characteristics: Many dark, irregular fragments. Cut surface reveals a dark interior. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with small chondrules (average apparent size about 250 µm) set in an abundant (79 vol% by point counting) fine-grained iron-rich matrix containg phyllosilicates and carbonates. Opaque minerals are FeS, magnetite, rare metal. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa23.0±24.1, range Fa0.9-54.1 (n=11). Low-ca pyroxene Fs2.1±1.2Wo1.0±0.3 (n=4). Defocused (10 µm) microprobe total in the matrix is 87.7±2.4 (n=9). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CM2). Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
