Find: 1999

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: A single 39 kg stone was found in 1999 by Tod Erickson while removing rip-rap from his home basement excavation, in Colgate, North Dakota. These rocks had been gathered from local farmers rock piles to fill the basement excavation so the walls would not collapse, as the owner was not going to put a structure on it for some years. When removing the rocks before construction, Tod Erickson found the meteorite. He noted its unusual color and weathered surface, and brought it to UND.

Petrography: Ordinary chondrite with average chondrule diameter 310 μm (n=50).

Classification: The meteorite has been checked against Euclid and Drayton (H chondrites from Minnesota and North Dakota) and is not paired.

Specimens: Main mass with T. Ericsson family, Colgate, North Dakota. Type specimen (250 g and 3 thin sections) UND Geology.
