Sayh al Uhaymir 561 (SaU 561) 20°16’11.0"N, 56°38’41.1"E Al Wusta, Oman Found: Jan 2011 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L6) Petrography: (P. Strickland, UAb) Approximately 20 vol% chondrules, 75 vol% matrix, and <1 vol% metal. Chondrules have an average diameter of 0.8 mm and display RP and PO - POP textures. Most olivine and pyroxene grains have irregular and planar fractures, strong undulatory extinction, and clinoenstatite lamellae on some low-Ca pyroxene indicating moderate shock (S4). Geochemistry: (C. Herd and P. Strickland, UAb) Olivine Fa24.9±0.9 (n=43); Low-Ca Pyroxene Fs21.4±1.2Wo1.6±0.3 (n=23). Specimens: 59.3 g type specimen, including polished thin section, are on deposit at UAb. Main mass, including 2 thin sections, at SQU. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
