El Médano 481 (EM 481) 24°48’05.3"S, 70°05’49.5"W Antofagasta, Chile Find: 2019 Jan 09 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Physical characteristics: Brownish stone. Cut surface reveals brown interior with small chondrules. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with well delineated small chondrules (~150 µm) set in an abundant fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Small CAIs are present. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa14.9±13.1, range Fa0.6-35.8 (n=6). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3). Likely paired with El Médano 216 Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE.
