Northwest Africa 10374 (NWA 10374)

Purchased: 2015

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer at the mineral fair in Ensisheim, France.

Petrography: The meteorite displays a fresh grayish to slightly greenish interior and is dominantly composed of recrystallized matrix; relict chondrules are rare. Olivine is by far the most abundant mineral phase, followed by feldspar, Ca-pyroxene and Cr-bearing magnetite. Metal is absent.

Geochemistry: Cr2O3 in magnetite: about 5 wt%
