Purchased: 2022 Feb

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6)

History: Purchased by Shun-Chung Yang and Juan Chen in February 2022 from a dealer in Guelmim, Morocco.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Largely recrystallized assemblage with equilibrated mafic silicates. Some vague chondrule outlines are discernible, but triple grain junction textures are absent. Accessory minerals are Cr-magnetite, plagioclase (of variable composition), pentlandite and minor secondary Fe oxides.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa_32.3±1.3, range Fa_31.2-34.1, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs_26.3±1.1Wo_1.7±1.3, range Fs_25.3-27.7Wo_0.7-3.2, N = 4), pigeonite (Fs_20.3Wo_17.6), augite (Fs_11.0±1.3Wo_43.5±2.5, range Fs_10.0-11.9Wo_45.3-41.7, N = 2), plagioclase (Ab_48.0-57.0An_49.6-41.0Or_2.4-2.1; Ab_72.2An_23.6Or_4.3; N = 3), magnetite (Cr₂O₃ 4.0-4.5 wt.%, N = 3).

Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CK6).

Specimens: 14,5 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. S.-C. Yang and Mr. J. Chen.
