Calama 138 22°24’26"S, 68°49’39"W Antofagasta, Chile Purchased: 2020 Oct Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Physical characteristics: A single stone. Cut face reveals a dark brown interior with small chondrules. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with small chondrules (average apparent diameter 150±70 µm, n=30) and small CAIs, set in a abundant fine-grained, iron-rich matrix. Opaque minerals are metal and troilite. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa14.1±11.5, range Fa0.5-32.9, Fa PMD=116% (n=9). Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.12±0.10 (n=8). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs6.3±3.9Wo3.7±0.8 (n=4). Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CO3) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
