Northwest Africa 14100 (NWA 14100) Algeria Purchased: 2021 Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3) Physical characteristics: Brownish stone without fusion crust. Cut face reveals large chondrules and CAIs set in a brownish matrix. Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with mm-size chondrules and CAIs set in an abundant fine-grained iron-rich matrix. Almost all primary opaques have been lost to terrestrial weathering. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa15.6±17.3, range Fa1.1-47.5 (n=7). Ca-pyroxene Fs1.1Wo30.0 (n=1). Defocused analyses of the matrix: FeO 35.0 wt%, analytical total 87.7 wt% Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3).
