Northwest Africa 2362 Northwest Africa Found 2003 Achondrite (eucrite) A 252 g partially crusted stone was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in 2004 May. Description and classification (J. Wittke and T. Bunch, NAU): unbrecciated, medium-grained cumulate eucrite that is partially recrystallized. Orthopyroxene, Fs59.3-62.9Wo1.7-3.3, FeO/MnO = 29.3-34.5 exsolved pigeonite, Fs55.1Wo9.1; augite; Fs22.4-26.3 Wo43.1-44.8; plagioclase, An89.2; chromite, cr# = 80; low Ni metal (<0.25 wt % Ni), silica, and ilmenite. Moderately shocked and low weathering grade. Specimens: 22.0 g, NAU; main mass, Birdsell. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
