Northwest Africa 14522 (NWA 14522) Morocco Purchased: 2020 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) History: Purchased by Wei Jiang in 2021 from a meteorite dealer Physical characteristics: The individual specimen is partially covered by black fusion crust. Coarse grained pyroxene and plagioclase phenocrysts are visible in hand specimens. Petrography: ( J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) The two major phases in this meteorite are pyroxene and plagioclase. Minor phases are chromite, ilmenite, silica, troilite and metal. Some pyroxene phenocrysts up to 0.5 mm are observed in the section. Some regions in the section display brecciated textures and composed of fine-grained pyroxene and plagioclase. Most pyroxene grains display cracks. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) Low-Ca pyroxene: Fs48.7±5.1Wo2.7±1.5 (n=10), Fe/Mn=34.6±1.7 (mole ratio), plagioclase: An92.5±1.7Ab7.0±1.2 (n=8). Classification: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y.
