Northwest Africa 14538 (NWA 14538) Morocco Find: 2018 Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite) Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Igneous rock with microgabbroic texture. Typical grain size 400 µm. Main minerals are pyroxene and plagioclase. Low-Ca pyroxene has augite exsolution with a clear dichotomy in exsolution width (20 µm and <1 µm). Accessory troilite, chromite, ilmenite, silica polymorph, metal. Geochemistry: Low-Ca pyroxene Fs60.1±0.7Wo2.4±0.3, FeO/MnO 30.9±1.5 (n=4). Augite exsolutions Fs27.7±1.2Wo42.5±1.3 (n=3). Plagioclase An89.2±0.3Ab10.5±0.2Or0.3±0.1 (n=4). Classification: Achondrite (eucrite) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jimmy Pizarro. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
