Y-791186, 72-1: Eucrite (monomict) This PTS shows a partially brecciated, coarse, subophitic texture and contains no mesostasis. The pyroxenes often display well developed herring-bone texture of twinning. They contain coarse augite exsolution lamellae up to 10 μm thick with (001) in common with the host low-Ca pyroxene, which is partly inverted to orthopyroxene. The pyroxene rims display finer and denser exsolution lamellae than the cores. The largest pyroxene crystal (partly inverted) reaches up to 2.3 x 0.9 mm in size. The plagioclase laths often include thin cores or tubes of pyroxene and reach up to 3.2 x 0.3 mm in size. Monomict eucrite similar to Y-792510. | ||||||||||||||||
