Northwest Africa 13731 (NWA 13731) Morocco Purchased: 2019 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3) History: Purchased by Jesper Grønne in 2019 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Well-formed, relatively small glass-bearing chondrules (apparent diameter 320±200 µm, N=24) are set in a recrystallized matrix containing altered metal, troilite, chlorapatite, taenite and chromite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.6±2.5, range Fa13.9-22.1, Cr2O3 < 0.05 wt.%, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs17.4±5.2Wo1.2±1.0, range Fs13.8-26.5Wo0.2-2.7, N = 5), subcalcic augite (Fs18.6±9.8Wo31.2±1.1, range Fs11.7-25.5Wo30.4-32.0, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3). This specimen is unequilibrated but of high petrologic subtype. Specimens: 20.5 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. J.
